5 Ways to Build Your Confidence During Your Job Search
The process of job hunting has its ups and downs. You may have a shaky interview or 2 or not receive any feedback from a role you’ve applied for. All of this can be demotivating and can have an effect on your self-esteem.
If your motivation has taken a little bit of a dip, check out these tips to help you stay motivated and confident during your job search.
Ignore your inner saboteur
Your harshest critic is usually your inner voice. Make a concentrated effort to silence negative thoughts before its start having a negative impact on your job search. A great way to do this is to write down your strengths and best assets, then when those negative thoughts start to creep in, revisit your list and remind yourself about all your positives and accomplishments.
Know what you want
Having clear career goals and objectives can help you stay focused when searching and applying for jobs. Are you looking for a leadership role? A remote opportunity? Narrowing down what you want can make the job searching process a little bit easier and less stressful and help you move forward with confidence.
Create a routine
Treat this process like you would a job. A morning routine can make the biggest difference to the rest of your day and performance. Wake up, get ready and go. You may also find it useful to create a designated work area to keep distractions at bay
Create a strong support network
Because the job market is very competitive it can be very easy to lose momentum. Surround yourself with people that are supportive and can provide reassurance for those times when your confidence takes a dip.
Don’t give up
Failure is part of the process. You will not have success with every job you apply for but there are plenty of roles out there. Keep being persistent, dust yourself off and continue with the process.
