Senior Data Engineer

I’m working with a large, complex organisation looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join its established data function.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role, combining engineering, platform ownership and responsibility for leading delivery initiatives.

Key responsibilities:

– Design and develop scalable data pipelines and integration solutions across cloud and on-premise environments.
– Lead technical delivery across data migration, transformation and warehousing initiatives.
– Take ownership of engineering standards, platform performance and reliability.
– Provide technical guidance, mentoring and line management to engineers.
– Work closely with architects, delivery teams and external technology partners.

Essential experience:

– Strong SQL, data modelling and data warehousing expertise.
– Experience with modern ETL/ELT technologies, including Talend, dbt and Azure Data Factory.
– Cloud data platforms such as Azure SQL and Snowflake.
– API integrations, database optimisation and complex data migrations.
– Experience leading technical initiatives and supporting engineering teams.

Desirable experience:

– Infrastructure as Code and DevOps tooling, including Terraform and Azure DevOps.
– Monitoring and observability platforms.
– Data governance, security and CI/CD practices.
